L3Harris Wins Award for Submarine Battery Monitoring Technology

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. has been selected to provide battery monitoring systems for the United States Navy’s submarine fleet. The contract covers equipment for the Virginia-class attack submarines and the Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines. These systems are designed to enhance the management of power storage within the vessels.

The Virginia-class submarines serve as the Navy’s attack fleet, while the Columbia-class is currently under development to replace the aging Ohio-class as the nation’s sea-based strategic deterrent. Battery monitoring systems are critical for ensuring the reliability and safety of the electrical components that support submarine operations.

L3Harris operates through three primary business segments: Space & Mission Systems (SMS), Communications & Spectrum Dominance (CSD), and Missile Solutions (MSL). This new award aligns with the company’s focus on delivering integrated mission-critical solutions for government maritime requirements.

In recent trading, L3Harris saw its stock price move to $298.85, an increase of 5.12% from the previous close of $284.29. The company currently holds a market capitalization of approximately $52.97 billion and operates within the Aerospace & Defense sector.
