L3Harris Secures Long-Term Propulsion Contracts for Missile Systems

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. has finalized new agreements spanning seven years to provide propulsion systems for key missile interceptors. The contracts cover hardware for the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) systems. These deals aim to stabilize the supply chain for critical rocket motor components over an extended timeframe.

PAC-3 is a surface-to-air missile system designed to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and aircraft. THAAD serves as a upper-tier defense system capable of intercepting ballistic missiles inside or outside the atmosphere. Propulsion systems are integral to the performance of these interceptors, providing the necessary thrust to engage incoming threats.

This announcement follows L3Harris’s strategic realignment into its Missile Solutions (MSL) segment. The company was formed following the merger of L3 Technologies and Harris Corporation and has since organized its operations into Space & Mission Systems (SMS), Communications & Spectrum Dominance (CSD), and the MSL unit. The new propulsion contracts fall directly under the MSL portfolio, which focuses on advanced munitions and missile technologies.

Shares of L3Harris moved higher in recent trading. The stock closed at $272.29 during the previous session and is currently priced at $277.06, reflecting a gain of 1.75% today. The company holds a market capitalization of approximately $55.25 billion and operates within the Industrials sector, specifically the Aerospace & Defense industry.

What to watch

  • Future quarterly earnings reports for revenue recognition related to the seven-year contracts.
  • Updates regarding the production timeline and delivery milestones for PAC-3 and THAAD propulsion systems.
  • Any modifications to the company’s fiscal year guidance stemming from the Missile Solutions segment.
