AE Industrial Finalizes Acquisition of L3Harris Propulsion and Power Units

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. has completed the sale of its Space Propulsion, Power, and Electronics divisions to private equity firm AE Industrial Partners. The transaction concludes the strategic separation of these business lines, which will now operate independently under the established name of Rocketdyne.

This divestiture allows L3Harris to streamline its portfolio. The company organizes its operations into three primary segments: Space & Mission Systems (SMS), Communications & Spectrum Dominance (CSD), and Missile Solutions (MSL). By moving the propulsion and power assets to AE Industrial, L3Harris continues to refine its focus on core integration and mission-critical solutions for government and commercial customers.

Rocketdyne specializes in the design and manufacture of propulsion systems, power generation, and electronics specifically for the space sector. The business brings a history of heritage in space exploration and defense, providing liquid and electric propulsion systems used on various spacecraft and strategic platforms.

Shares of L3Harris were trading at $284.11 during the current session, representing a market capitalization of approximately $55.25 billion. The stock is up 1.69% from the previous close of $279.40.

What to watch

  • Future financial disclosures from L3Harris regarding the use of proceeds from the sale.
  • Integration milestones and strategic updates released by the newly independent Rocketdyne business.
  • Upcoming earnings reports to assess the impact of the divestiture on L3Harris’s segment margins.
