Burry Increases Short Positions in Palantir and Nvidia

Notable investor Michael Burry has adjusted his portfolio, increasing his short positions against Palantir Technologies Inc. and Nvidia. The move comes as market participants analyze the recent performance of software and semiconductor stocks. According to a regulatory filing, Burry’s firm, Scion Asset Management, has raised its bets against these companies.

Palantir Technologies Inc. is currently trading at approximately $179.01, up 0.43% from the previous close. The company, which operates within the software infrastructure sector, has a market capitalization of roughly $411.02 billion. Palantir builds and deploys software platforms for the intelligence community in the United States, the United Kingdom, and internationally. Its platforms, such as Palantir Gotham, are designed to integrate with existing systems to assist in counterterrorism investigations and other operations.

The decision to increase short exposure signals a bearish outlook on the stock’s future price movements from the investor’s perspective. A short position profits when the price of a security declines. While Palantir has seen engagement in the defence and commercial sectors, the increased short interest suggests skepticism regarding its current valuation or growth trajectory.

In addition to the technology shorts, the filing revealed that Burry has expanded his long position in Molina Healthcare. This shift indicates a rotating of capital away from high-growth technology names and toward the managed care sector, which has faced recent sell-offs.

What to watch

  • Future 13F filings detailing Scion Asset Management’s holdings.
