Huntington Ingalls Industries has received a task order valued at $2.2 billion to continue supporting U.S. Navy surface fleet maintenance. The award falls under the overarching Surface Combatant Maintenance Contract (SCMC), a multi-vehicle agreement that sustains the operational availability of guided-missile destroyers and cruisers.
As the sole builder of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and one of two builders of submarines, HII leverages its extensive industrial base to provide lifecycle support for naval vessels. This new task order allows the company to perform continued availability maintenance, modernization, and repairs. The work is expected to be distributed across HII’s segments, primarily impacting the Ingalls Shipbuilding division, which specializes in non-nuclear surface combatants.
