Huntington Ingalls Industries has named a new director to lead state and local government affairs for its Ingalls Shipbuilding division. The appointment is aimed at strengthening relationships with regional stakeholders and community leaders as the shipbuilder continues its production of non-nuclear surface combatants for the U.S. Navy.

The newly appointed director will serve as the primary liaison between the Pascagoula, Mississippi-based shipyard and state and local officials. The role focuses on fostering engagement with community organizations, economic development groups, and municipal leadership. The individual will report directly to division leadership, coordinating public outreach strategies that support the industrial base in the Gulf Coast region.

Huntington Ingalls operates through three primary segments: Ingalls, Newport News, and Mission Technologies. The Ingalls division is the company’s sole provider of non-nuclear ship construction, responsible for building destroyers and amphibious warfare ships. Managing regulatory and community relations at the state level is a critical component of maintaining the workforce and infrastructure required for these large-scale programs.
