HII Transfers REMUS 100 Undersea Drones to German Navy

Huntington Ingalls Industries has finalized a delivery of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) to the German Navy. The transfer involves the company’s REMUS 100 systems, a modular platform designed for hydrographic surveys and maritime security operations.

This contract execution is managed through HII’s Mission Technologies division, which focuses on providing advanced autonomous solutions and technical support to defense customers. The REMUS 100 is a compact system used for shallow-water missions, including environmental monitoring and mine countermeasures. The delivery expands the German Navy’s existing fleet of autonomous underwater assets.

For Huntington Ingalls, the agreement highlights the company’s strategy to leverage its non-shipbuilding segments. While the firm is traditionally known for constructing nuclear and non-nuclear vessels through its Ingalls and Newport News shipbuilding divisions, Mission Technologies provides uncrewed systems and C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities.

Shares of Huntington Ingalls Industries were trading higher by 0.51% today, with the market capitalization sitting at approximately $11.71 billion. The stock closed the previous session at $290.95.

What to watch

  • Future contract announcements regarding European naval modernization programs.
  • Upcoming earnings reports for details on the revenue contribution from the Mission Technologies segment.
  • Progress on other autonomous system development milestones within the HII portfolio.
