L3Harris Hardware Deployed on NASA Roman Space Telescope Mission

L3Harris Technologies has marked a significant milestone in its space systems portfolio with the successful launch of NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. The mission lifted off recently, deploying the hardware and components manufactured by the defence contractor into orbit.

L3Harris was responsible for the assembly and testing of the telescope’s optical telescope assembly (OTA). The company’s contribution included integrating the primary mirror and supporting structures designed to withstand the rigors of launch and the operational environment of space. The Roman Space Telescope is intended to function as a wide-field survey instrument, aiding in research regarding dark energy and exoplanets.

This contract supports the company’s Space & Mission Systems (SMS) segment, which focuses on integrated solutions for national security, civil government, and commercial customers. The successful deployment underscores the firm’s role in supporting complex scientific and governmental space missions.

Shares of L3Harris are currently trading at $263.56, reflecting a decline of 1.4% from the previous close of $267.30. The company holds a market capitalization of approximately $48.78 billion and operates within the Industrials sector, specifically serving the Aerospace & Defense industry.
