Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) used its presence at Delta Fest 2026 to spotlight two themes central to its shipbuilding business: developing the skilled workforce behind America’s military vessels and expanding the industrial capacity needed to meet growing demand.

HII, the largest military shipbuilder in the United States, designs, builds, overhauls, and repairs naval ships through three operating segments: Ingalls, Newport News, and Mission Technologies. Its Ingalls shipyard on the Gulf Coast is a major employer in the region, and events like Delta Fest give the company a public platform to engage prospective workers and community members directly.

Workforce development has become a defining challenge across the defence industrial base. Shipyards must recruit and train welders, pipefitters, electricians, and engineers at scale while competing with other industries for skilled trades talent.
