L3Harris Set to Supply VAMPIRE Counter-Drone Systems to the US Navy

L3Harris Technologies has been tapped to provide its VAMPIRE counter-unmanned aircraft systems to the US Navy, according to a report by NavalToday citing the company’s announcement. The move adds the naval service to the growing list of customers for the system, which the company has positioned as a modular answer to the proliferation of small drones on the modern battlefield.

VAMPIRE — short for Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance and Rocket Weapon System — is designed as a portable, pallet-mounted kit that can be installed on a range of vehicles and platforms. Its modular architecture is a key selling point: rather than requiring a dedicated platform, the system can be integrated onto what a customer already operates, reducing cost and deployment time.

The US Navy’s interest reflects a broader push across the Department of Defense to field counter-drone capabilities at scale. Small uncrewed aerial systems (sUAS) have become a persistent concern for naval vessels and shore installations, and the Pentagon has prioritized layered counter-UAS solutions across services. L3Harris has previously delivered VAMPIRE systems to Ukraine under US-sponsored security assistance, raising the system’s public profile.

For L3Harris, the Navy award fits within its portfolio of mission-critical solutions spanning space, communications, and missile systems. The company trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker LHX, where shares recently changed hands at $252.52, down 1.26% from the prior close of $255.74, valuing the aerospace and defence group at roughly $48.8 billion.
