NVIDIA and Palantir Team Up to Bring AI to the Semiconductor Supply Chain

NVIDIA has detailed a collaboration with Palantir Technologies aimed at applying artificial intelligence to one of the most complex logistics challenges in the technology sector: the semiconductor supply chain. In a new developer write-up, the company describes how its Nemotron family of open models is being combined with Palantir’s Foundry data platform to track the journey of a chip from the moment it leaves the fabrication facility — the “wafer-out” stage — to the point where it is running inside a finished computing system.

The effort focuses on codifying supply-chain expertise into AI workflows. Rather than relying on tribal knowledge held by experienced planners, the combined tooling is designed to capture how parts move through assembly, test, and integration, and to surface that understanding through large language models that can answer questions about production status and potential bottlenecks.

For Palantir, the work extends its footprint beyond its traditional government and defence customer base. The Denver-based company, whose platforms — including Gotham, its flagship product for intelligence and defence agencies — are widely deployed across public-sector clients, has been positioning Foundry as an operating system for enterprise data in commercial industries as well. Shares of Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) closed recently at $170.50, down a modest 0.07% from the prior session, valuing the software firm at roughly $439.7 billion. The company is classified in the Technology sector within the Software – Infrastructure industry.

For NVIDIA, the project doubles as a demonstration of its own stack: the semiconductors being tracked through the supply chain are, in many cases, its own products, and the Nemotron models showcase the company’s push into open-weight enterprise AI. Framing the workflow as “wafer-out to first token” underscores the connection between upstream manufacturing visibility and downstream AI deployment.

Semiconductor supply chains are notoriously opaque, spanning foundries, packaging houses, and system integrators across multiple continents. Applying AI to that data has become a growing area of interest for both defence and industrial customers seeking clearer production visibility.

What to watch

  • Palantir’s upcoming quarterly earnings report and any commentary on commercial-sector Foundry adoption.
  • Additional NVIDIA developer publications detailing Nemotron model deployments with enterprise partners.
  • Announcements of further joint customer engagements or case studies from the two companies.
