Palantir Ties Nebius to Sovereign AI Push as Shares React

A newly announced partnership between Palantir Technologies and Nebius Group has drawn attention across the defence technology and artificial intelligence sectors, with reports from Zacks noting that Nebius shares rose roughly 8% following the news.

The collaboration, framed around “sovereign AI” — the concept of nations building and controlling their own artificial intelligence infrastructure and data capabilities rather than relying on foreign providers — pairs Palantir’s software platforms with Nebius’s AI cloud infrastructure business. For government customers, sovereign AI arrangements have become an increasingly common procurement theme, as countries seek to keep sensitive data and model deployments within their own jurisdictions.

Palantir, whose Gotham platform is widely used by intelligence and defence agencies in the United States, the United Kingdom, and among international allies, has been expanding its commercial and government AI footprint. The company’s stock traded at $170.50 in recent activity, essentially flat on the day at minus 0.07% from a previous close of $170.62, with a market capitalization of approximately $439.7 billion. The company is classified in the Technology sector, within the Software – Infrastructure industry.

While the market reaction was concentrated in Nebius shares, the deal underscores growing convergence between AI infrastructure providers and defence-adjacent software firms. Governments in Europe and elsewhere have been awarding contracts for national AI capability, and partnerships that combine secure software platforms with large-scale compute capacity position participants to bid on such programs.

Neither the scale of the arrangement nor its financial terms were detailed in the reports cited, and DefencePressWire has not independently verified the share price movement. Readers should treat the 8% figure as reported by Zacks.

What to watch

  • Palantir’s upcoming quarterly earnings, including updates on government segment revenue and any disclosure of international AI-related contract activity.
  • Formal announcements from either company detailing the scope, duration, or financial terms of the partnership.
  • Sovereign AI procurement programs in Europe and allied nations, which may indicate whether this partnership leads to named contract awards.
  • Further guidance from both companies on AI infrastructure investment plans.
