Coast Guard searching for ambulance G100 missing over Atlantic
Canadian medical jet lost contact while en route to Boston from Bermuda.
US Coast Guard personnel are searching for a Gulfstream G100 Astra which disappeared while operating a medical flight to Boston.
Contact was lost with the aircraft, which was transporting six occupants, while it was flying from Bermuda on 3 October.
The jet bears a Canadian registration, C-GRJP, and is part of Hamilton-based Latitude Air Ambulance’s fleet, according to Transport Canada.
It lists the aircraft as a 1996 airframe, built by Israel Aerospace Industries which manufactured the aircraft for Gulfstream.
The Coast Guard states that it was notified by the US FAA of the loss of contact at 02:00.
“Coast Guard air and surface crews are searching an area off the coast of Nantucket,” it adds.
Several aircraft and vessels are participating in the search, including a Lockheed Martin HC-130, an Airbus HC-144 Ocean Sentry, and a Sikorsky MH-60 helicopter.
