LATAM Airlines Brazil receives first Embraer 195-E2
The acquisitions will support the carrier’s plans to expand within Brazil, it says.
Embraer has delivered the first E195-E2 to LATAM Airlines Brazil, with 24 of the Brazilian-made jets scheduled to join parent LATAM Airline Group’s fleet by the end-2027, Embraer said on 8 October.
The delivery follows a September 2025 agreement under which LATAM ordered 24 E195-E2s and took options for another 50. Embraer expects to deliver 12 E195-E2s to LATAM this year and the balance next year, it says.
The Chilean company has said it sees potential for other of its operating subsidiaries to also fly the Embraer jets.
The E195-E2 is the largest aircraft in Embraer’s E2 family and is part of the manufacturer’s broader E-Jet programme, which includes aircraft operated by more than 80 airlines across 50 countries.
According to Embraer, the E195-E2 burns up to 30% less fuel than first-generation E-Jets, has range of 3,000nm (5,556km) and features fourth-generation fly-by-wire avionics.
LATAM’s E195-E2s will seat 136 passengers in a 2-2 configuration, with premium economy and economy cabins.
“We chose the E195-E2 with a clear objective: to continue expanding LATAM’s presence in Brazil sustainably,” says LATAM Airlines Brazil’s chief executive Jerome Cadier. “With the E2, we will connect new markets with strong demand and economic potential to our global network, allowing us to surpass the milestone of 70 airports served in Brazil as early as 2027.”
LATAM plans to deploy its initial 14 E195-E2s across 42 routes, including eight new routes to four destinations not yet part of the airline’s network: Cabo Frio, Ji-Parana, Macae and Rondonopolis.
The carrier currently serves 63 Brazilian airports – up from 44 six years ago – and is considering adding as many as 18 destinations in 2027.
Before placing its E195-E2s into commercial service, LATAM must complete the necessary regulatory approval procedures with Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency.
LATAM had used an Embraer demonstration aircraft for pilot and crew training, evacuation demonstrations and evaluation flights – an approach Embraer describes as “unprecedented” and says “reduced the time needed to complete these procedures by roughly half”.
