Vietjet launches routes connecting Hanoi with Almaty and Prague
New flights between the Czech Republic and Hanoi mark carrier’s first connection to the European Union.
Vietnamese carrier Vietjet Air has launched flights connecting Hanoi with Almaty and Prague, alongside an Almaty-Prague service, marking the carrier’s entry into the European Union.
The new air links provide additional travel options between Vietnam, Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic, aimed at boosting tourism, trade and cultural exchange across Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Europe.
Inaugural flights landed at Almaty international airport and Prague’s Vaclav Havel airport on 10 October, greeted by traditional water-cannon salutes and cultural performances. Passengers received commemorative gifts from the airline and host airports.
Vietjet is operating the routes twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays using Airbus A330 widebody aircraft. The flights feature two premium classes, Business and SkyBoss. In addition, Vietnamese citizens can now travel to Kazakhstan visa-free for stays of up to 30 days.
“The launch of these new routes marks an important milestone in our international network expansion,” says Vietjet chief executive Nguyen Thanh Son. “Vietjet will continue to expand its services to Europe, making travel between Europe, Australia and Asia more convenient.”
Speaking at the launch event in Prague, Vietnamese ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam highlighted the diplomatic and economic value of the new connections.
“Vietnam and the Czech Republic have a strong foundation of time-tested friendship, and now we need more bridges to carry out that friendship forward,” Duong says. “Air connectivity is one of those bridges. I am confident that this new route will contribute to making the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Czechia not only stronger at the governmental level, but also more vibrant among our peoples.”
