Palantir Taps Nebius for Sovereign AI Infrastructure Push
Data analytics firm Palantir Technologies has named AI cloud provider Nebius as its infrastructure partner for sovereign artificial intelligence deployments, according to a report by Data Center Dynamics. The arrangement is aimed at giving government and regulated customers access to Palantir’s software platforms running on infrastructure that remains under national or local jurisdiction — an increasingly common requirement among defence and public-sector buyers.
Sovereign AI refers to AI compute capacity hosted within a specific country’s borders and governed by its data laws, rather than on globally shared cloud regions. For defence ministries and intelligence agencies, the model addresses data-residency rules and procurement policies that often prevent workloads from leaving national territory. By pairing its platforms with Nebius’s dedicated infrastructure, Palantir gains a route to customers whose contracts demand locally controlled compute.
Palantir, which builds data-integration and analytics platforms used by government agencies and commercial clients, has been expanding its public-sector footprint on both sides of the Atlantic. The company’s flagship government platform, Gotham, is used by intelligence and defence organisations in the United States, the United Kingdom and internationally. Partnerships with AI infrastructure providers have become a recurring theme across the sector as model training and inference demands strain traditional cloud capacity.
For Nebius, which emerged as an AI-focused cloud operator with large-scale GPU data centre capacity, the deal adds a marquee software partner and a path into a customer base with long contract durations. Similar sovereign-cloud tie-ups have been announced across the industry as governments move to keep sensitive workloads on domestic infrastructure.
Investor attention to Palantir remains high given its outsized role in government AI adoption. The stock traded at $170.30 in the latest session, down 2.37% from its prior close of $174.43, valuing the company at roughly $439.7 billion. Shares in Nebius were not covered in the market data available for this report.
