Axon Edges Out Palantir by 36 Spots in Roundtable 100 Ranking

Taser and body-camera maker Axon Enterprise has landed 36 places ahead of Palantir Technologies in the latest Roundtable 100 ranking, according to a report carried by Yahoo Finance, underscoring the competitive standing of two of the most closely watched public safety and government-technology names.

The Roundtable 100 is an annual list that tracks leading publicly traded companies, and the gap between the two firms has drawn attention given their overlapping appeal to investors focused on government and public-sector technology. Axon, best known for its law-enforcement hardware and digital evidence management software, has expanded its software and services business in recent years. Palantir, by contrast, has built its reputation on data-integration platforms such as Gotham, which supports government and intelligence clients in the United States, the United Kingdom, and internationally.

Palantir’s market position

Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) trades at $170.50, marginally below its previous close of $170.62 — a decline of 0.07% on the day. The company carries a market capitalisation of approximately $439.7 billion, placing it among the largest software firms in the Technology sector, where it is classified under Software – Infrastructure.

The Denver-headquartered company remains a prominent supplier of software platforms to the intelligence community, with its Gotham platform designed to integrate with other systems to assist in counterterrorism-related investigations. Its commercial business has also grown, broadening the company’s revenue base beyond government contracts.

Two different routes into the public sector

While both companies serve government customers, their business models differ materially. Axon’s revenue historically flowed from hardware sales to police departments, supplemented by recurring software subscriptions for evidence management. Palantir’s model is built around long-term platform deployments and enterprise data solutions across government and commercial clients.

Rankings such as the Roundtable 100 typically reflect a combination of factors including financial performance and market recognition, and positions can shift substantially between annual editions as companies’ fortunes evolve.

What to watch

  • Palantir’s upcoming quarterly earnings report, which will provide updated revenue and guidance figures.
  • Any new U.S. or international government contract announcements from either company.
  • The next edition of the Roundtable 100 to see whether the 36-place gap widens or narrows.
  • Broader government-technology spending trends in the U.S. federal budget cycle.
