ARK Invest Reallocates: Trims Palantir and AMD Stakes While Adding to Archer Aviation Position

Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest disclosed a series of portfolio moves that included selling shares of software firm Palantir Technologies and chipmaker AMD while directing roughly $3.35 million into Archer Aviation, the electric aviation company developing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The purchase adds to ARK’s existing exposure to Archer, a company that designs aircraft intended to serve both commercial and defense customers. eVTOL aircraft — electric-powered vehicles that can take off and land vertically, often described as prospective “flying taxis” for urban air mobility — have drawn attention from investors looking at the intersection of aerospace, electrification, and defense-adjacent manufacturing.

Palantir, which provides data and software platforms to government and intelligence customers, remains a much larger holding by market value. The company’s shares traded at $170.50, down 0.07% from the prior close, valuing the business at roughly $440 billion. Palantir builds platforms including Gotham, used by government agencies in the United States, the United Kingdom, and internationally. ARK’s sale, per the disclosure, was a portfolio adjustment rather than a full exit, and the firm’s positioning in defence-technology software names continues to be a focal point for market watchers.

Archer’s shares, by contrast, trade at a much smaller scale. The stock was priced at $5.47, down 1.08% on the day, with a market capitalization of approximately $4.43 billion. The company operates in the industrials sector, within the aerospace and defense industry, and has positioned its aircraft for urban air mobility as well as potential military applications.

Wood’s fund is known for making frequent, disclosed portfolio trades under regulatory transparency rules, which makes its daily moves a closely followed signal — even as analysts caution that a single day’s buying or selling does not necessarily reflect a durable thesis. The rotation from a mega-cap software name into a small-cap aviation developer highlights the divergence in how defence-adjacent technology is being valued: Palantir’s valuation reflects established government contracts and scale, while Archer’s reflects an earlier-stage manufacturing and certification runway.

Neither company’s fundamentals changed as a result of the trades; the moves reflect ARK’s own positioning decisions rather than new corporate disclosures from either firm.

What to watch

  • Archer Aviation’s upcoming earnings report and any updates on its aircraft certification timeline and manufacturing progress.
  • Palantir’s next quarterly results, including commentary on government and commercial customer demand.
  • Further ARK Invest daily trade disclosures for additional buying or selling in either name.
  • Any new contract announcements or partnership updates from Archer involving commercial or defense customers.
